Cow Lane Rail Improvement Scheme, Reading, Berkshire

New Leaf Ecology carried out a range of pre-construction surveys and mitigation measures for a rail improvement project at Cow Lane, Reading.

This included: 
  • Assessment of trees for bat roosting potential, inspection and on site ecological supervision during tree removal;
  • Pre-construction nesting bird checks;
  • Creation of reptile receptor area;
  • Relocation of common lizards to the new reptile receptor area;
  • Assessment of buildings due to be demolished for roosting bats;
  • Bat emergence surveys of buildings with potential for roosting bats;
  • Development of habitat maintenance and monitoring plan for retained and enhanced habitats following construction.
